Concept art inspired by poem 34 from "The Book of Nonsense" by Edward Lear:

"There was an old person of Dover, 

Who rushed through a field of blue Clover; 

But some very large bees, 

Stung his nose and his knees, 

So he very soon went back to Dover."

The intention behind these environment and character concept art was to communicate the setting of the story as well as introduce the main characters.

For this project, I took inspiration from Dover in England for the environment, and the Bee Movie and The Sound of Music movie posters for the characters. The narrative that I had in mind was something colourful and sweet like in many films for children. With the human character, because she is supposed to be someone who enjoys nature and going out, I opted for earthen tones and soft shapes in her design. Then for the bee warrior, I used colours commonly associated with bees, plus sharper shapes to communicate strength and protection.
